Advancing Mathematics with UJMAP
Developed by programme founder Gavin Robinson, the University of Johannesburg Maths Advancement Programme (UJMAP) provides supplementary maths training, workshops and materials for Grade 11 and 12 pupils at many Johannesburg schools and at the Soweto Science Centre. The purpose is to increase student readiness for science courses at university and to improve matric maths results. InnoSys sponsored the programme at a number of schools. In addition, when it was found that students who had completed the Education Alive study skills courses did far better on the maths programme, InnoSys also sponsored study courses for students in several Soweto and Johannesburg schools, delivered in conjunction with the maths programmes. The results have been heartening with significant improvements in maths results in those students who complete the programme.
